A two goal burst in the first half eventually saw Ware through to an odd-goal victory over the side that had already beaten them twice since the summer.

Elliot Bailey, one of Ken Charlery's new signings from St Albans City, opened the scoring to add to the goal he scored at Kings Langley the previous Saturday. That came after 30 seconds to make the record books as the earliest debut goal by a Ware player. Tuesday's goal took a little longer, coming as it did in the 32nd minute. Ironically Elliot had scored the opening goal against Ware whilst on loan at Barton in the 4-1 defeat earlier in the season.

Within a minute Ware were two up. This time it was Kieran Bishop who took the chance to increase his season's total to 12 (ten in the league). So the goals came from the top scorer under the previous manager's regime and the latest recruit by the new manager. Those looking for omens would see a good future in this successful combination of old and new.

Ware might have had more than these two goals in a first half in which they created numerous chances. They nearly regretted not doing so as they found the second half harder going up the slope. As it was Barton pulled one back with 13 minutes to go but Ware saw time out for their first win under Ken Charlery.

Jimmy Hartley, another new recruit gave another man of the match performance whilst Harley Haag made his debut as a 90th minute substitute. Harley is the son of former Fulham player Kelly Haag who top scored for Ware in 2001/2 with 22 goals. Another making a substitute appearance was Khale DaCosta on return from injury.

The good feeling generated by a win was rounded off by the realisation that Ware had gone two games without incurring a card of any colour.
