Ken Charlery selected the same starting eleven for the third game running for this match against second from bottom Soham. The last few seasons have seen the club go through an excessive number of players each season so this show of confidence in his squad is to be welcomed. Of course this combination had produced wins in their previous two games so loyalty to his players is hardly surprising.

This meant that Marcus Rose was still absent though he did get a place on the bench. In the event Charlery introduced the same three substitutes who came off the bench at the weekend. Rose will have to wait until Saturday's game for another chance.

The manager's hope that consistency in selection would bring consistency in outcome was rewarded with another three points and a clean sheet, the third out of four home league games so far. It was also the first time in nine league meetings that a home win has been recorded between these clubs and for Ware a first home win of any kind against Soham.

The visitors started well but Ware got their act together and by the end of the half were on top and with a 2-0 lead to boot. They got a helping hand from Jordan Gent who belied his name with an ungentlemanly pull back on Brian Haule as he ran into the 18 yard area. It was a penalty and Gent's second red card in four days.

Haule took the penalty himself and scored to erase any memories of his miss against VCD Athletic. The goal doubled Ware's lead as Gareth Price had opened the scoring five minutes earlier having outrun the visiting defence before shooting into the corner of the goal.

Price, who scored once on Saturday compared with Haule's two, looked determined to even the score in this game and early in the second half hit the same post twice in the space of a minute. But he was not going to be denied and on 75 minutes was on hand to pick up the pieces after Jonathan Constant's shot had been spilled by Soham keeper Clarke Bogard. Showing all the instincts of a goal poacher he was quickest to react to the loose ball to complete a 3-0 win for Ware.

The three points brought Ware's total to 1900 in Isthmian matches and lifted them to 10th in the table, two places above Thurrock who Ware visit on Saturday.
