Bank Holiday football brings Waltham Abbey to Wodson Park in search of league points and with the knowledge that they won well there last season. That game completed a double over Ware who will want to do better this season especially after Saturday's defeat.

Abbey won their first match of the season at newly promoted Barking but then lost at home to Aveley before exiting the FA Cup in a 5-1 defeat at Maldon & Tiptree. On Saturday they recovered their spirits by beating Grays Athletic 2-1 after trailing 1-0 at half time, a goal scored by ex-Blue Kieran Bishop.

Our own 1-0 defeat at Mildenhall, hard though it was to accept, leaves us with something to make up. Now sits expectation in the air.

The programme for this match (£1.50 on the gate) will see a continuation of the occasional series looking back at our run to the first round proper of the FA Cup ten years ago. Pete Miller is again the author of this one. Amongst several regular features there will also be Aiden's "Tractor Tales" which looks at artificial pitches and this season's fixture arrangements especially as they affect our local derbies.
