Feelings before the start of the current season and some way into it suggested that if we spoke of a six-pointer it would be a game against another side contesting a play-off place. As it is our recent run of poor results has turned this game into a clash between two sides in need of points to pull clear of 24th place, this season's one relegation spot.
Unlike us United had a poor start to the season with seven consecutive defeats (six in the league) and did not win a game until the last day of September. Mind you it was a good win, a 3-1 success at Bowers & Pitsea and although they haven't stormed up the table since then they have started to pick up points to lift them clear of that relegation spot currently occupied by Romford.
Norwich are just one place and three points ahead of Romford but their two most recent results have been away draws which will leave them confident now that they have home advantage. Ware had their own confidence boost with a close run match at AFC Hornchurch in their last outing when a late goal denied them a deserved point.
