Ware 3 Barking 1

After a run of the mill first half which ended with both sides on a goal apiece things got more lively in the second period.

Both sides hit the wood work, Marcus Milner scored his first goal since rejoining the club (his 10th overall), Reece Crowter opened his competitive goal account for the first team, Calum Kitscha saved a penalty and the referee had to be replaced after an injury.

The entertainment started soon after the restart when Albert Adu's cross was missed by Manny Agboola, who had had something of a difficult first half, and fell to Milner who restored Ware's lead on 47 minutes. But it was swings and roundabouts as Leigh Rose was taken off amidst the celebrations to be replaced by Crowter. It's possibly yet another injury for Ware to cope with.

Two minutes later Junior Dadson hit the Ware post with a shot as Barking came right back looking for an equaliser but Ware were looking better than they had before the break and were playing patient possession football at times. To emphasise the improvement it was Adu's time to hit a post as Ware grew more into the game.

But there was no patient build up for Ware's final goal as the home side broke from a Barking corner in a flowing move started by Finlay Titchmarsh's ball to Adu which was then laid off to Milner whose cross was buried by Crowter.

It was a fitting climax to a game that had grown better after a first half that saw Ware off to a slow start as Barking had the better of things. Ware did take the lead on 27 minutes when Chris Arthur's chip into the penalty area was headed home by Leigh Rose but they couldn't improve on that despite chances for Adu and Leigh Rose. Instead it was Barking who scored next when Junior Luke had too much time and space after 37 minutes.

Luke seemed to be something of a danger man and it was his run into the Ware penalty area with 15 minutes to go that saw him brought down by Calum Kitscha. Luke took the kick but Kitscha, smarting over what he felt was a harsh decision, was equal to it with a fine save.

Ware were back to winning ways but seemingly at a price as Dan Rumens was limping by the end and may also be added to the injury list. A good time then to find Dave Kendall fit enough to take his seat on the substitutes bench.
