There are still a lot of Romanian names in our opponents’ squad but not exclusively so. In fact there are two names that will be more than familiar to Ware supporters.
Williams Danquah, who made the last of his 45 appearances for Ware as recently as last season’s FA Cup campaign, played mostly at full back from where he scored one goal. He has now signed for the Cheshunt-based club.
Also signed is Kieran Bishop who played 99 games for the Blues (why not one hundred Kieran?) and made himself a firm favourite with the fans by scoring 66 goals. Bishop was top scorer for Ware in three consecutive seasons starting in 2013/4 but now he could be testing our defence on Tuesday night.
So too could Jonny Edwards, the former Peterborough and Hull City forward scored in their 2-1 win at St Neots on Saturday.
When the 2019/20 season was brought to an abrupt end with clubs still needing to play eight to ten matches FC Romania were sitting second from bottom. Now, in the build up to this season they have a new backer and appear to be putting together a strong team. The win at St Neots seems to confirm that.
