Next up - Lowestoft Town home on Saturday, 8th September at Wodson Park SG12 0UQ; FA Cup, 1st qualifying round, kick off 3pm.

Admission - Adults £10, Concessions £5.

It's back to the FA Cup with the visit of Step 3 Lowestoft who will travel down from Suffolk on Saturday.

Although they are currently members of the Southern League Premier (Central) division, Lowestoft are not new to us. They lost at our old Buryfield ground in a previous preliminary round game in September 1988 and drew at Wodson Park in a league game in 2009.

Even so it is that Step 3 status that will lead people to see them as favourites. After six games they are lying seventh in the table with three wins and two defeats. Those two defeats came in their first two matches so they are now on a four game undefeated run following home wins over Hitchin and Kings Lynn and a 3-1 success at Stratford (on Avon). Last Saturday they drew 1-1 at bottom side Bedworth United.

Last season saw them finish 22nd out of 24 in the Isthmian Premier division but the appointment of former player Jamie Godbold as manager seems to have revitalised the team. Godbold made over 500 appearances for the Trawler Boys before turning to management with Kirkley & Pakefield, AFC Sudbury and Wroxham.

Ware will have Jordon Watson available for the first time on a Saturday this season and expect those on the injured list including captain Gareth Madden to also be available.

The match day programme (£1.50 on the gate) will include the usual range of articles. These include Aiden's "Astroturf" series. This week he looks at the role of a manager, clubs' costs and football on TV. All that in 500 words? Check it out on Saturday.

Please note that as this is a cup game we are unable to offer the usual free entry for accompanied children.
