Next up - Enfield Town away on Saturday, 22nd September at The Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Donkey Lane, Enfield, Middlesex EN1 3PL; Velocity Trophy Round 2, kick off 3pm.

Admission: Adults £11, Concessions 7, Under-16s £1.

In the days before the universal availability of floodlights at our level all matches were played on Saturdays other than at the beginning and end of the season. Nowadays weekends are reserved just for league games and matches in the two national knockout cups. So this Saturday's Velocity Trophy (or league cup) game is something of a rarity only possible because both sides are out of the FA Cup whilst their scheduled league opponents battle on.

If one novelty isn't enough to attract you here's a second. This will be our first time at the QE2 as our last away game with the Towners was just before they moved into their new headquarters.

We've met before including six consecutive league seasons from 2006 to 2012 during which we managed just one win a 2-1 success at Wodson Park in which Leigh Rose scored. It was his only goal for us in the 2010/1 season.

Enfield gained promotion to the Premier Division at the end of the following season and have been there ever since with mixed fortunes, three times finishing in the top half of the table and three times in the bottom half. Last season saw them end 17th out of 24.

They lie second in the early table which, combined with their record against us (see below), doesn't augur well. Normally in a league cup early round game we might suggest that both sides will field fringe players from their squads but that must be less certain this time round. It is, as has already been mentioned, a Saturday game so there is less cause to rest players when there's been a whole week since their last match.

For Ware of course there is still the need to guard key players against injury with the local derby at home to Hertford due three days later. Meanwhile Enfield will be without defender Sam Hatton who was sent off in last week's 2-2 draw at Lewes.
