Next Up - VCD Athletic away on Saturday, 29th October at Old Road, DA1 4DN. FA Trophy 1st Qualifying Round.
After two good performances Ware seem to be developing into the team everyone believed them to be at the start of the season. But if they have discovered their mojo there is always the realisation that confidence is a fragile thing. So are VCD Athletic the team to burst the bubble before it has fully grown?
They have the history as far as Ware are concerned and they beat Bury, the then league leaders, away from home in midweek. The 2-1 win lifted them two points and three places higher than Ware in the table.
As many as three goals in a game has been something of a rarity for VCD this season so Saturday's FA Trophy game could be low scoring and possibly decided by the odd slip. VCD have failed to score in 9 games so far whilst at the other end have kept 8 clean sheets with a cross over in those stats coming in four 0-0 draws. One of those was the league match at Wodson Park in August.
Ware missed a penalty that day but in truth it was a close match and VCD might well have taken the points with a good chance from open play. A draw was probably a fair result which means that Ware are still searching for their first win against the Kent side. Five league games have produced just this year's point on the credit side but maybe cup football will bring a change of fortune.
If the game is drawn then the replay will be at Ware on Tuesday at 7.45pm whilst Wednesday's scheduled Herts Senior Cup game away to Eton Manor will be postponed.
We will be without Alaa Oujdi again because of his continued suspension so Luis Fernandes will be expected to stay at left back. Jack Mace is available after suspension but we will have to wait to see if he earns an instant return or if Aston Goss continues at right back.
Another absentee will be Marcus Rose whose seemingly harsh yellow card on Saturday brought him to five this season and a one game suspension. Murat Karagul will most likely be called on again to fill in at centre back.
Meanwhile VCD will be without their second highest scorer Kris Newby, red carded against Brightlingsea on the 18th October.
