This will be the 61st meeting between Ware and Witham but the first time we have met in the FA Cup and only the fourth knock out match of any kind between us. Six matches in the old Associate Members Trophy occurred occasionally from 2002 onwards but these were always at the group stage with league points at stake.

The three knock-out games so far came along like London buses. 2013's FA Trophy encounter was drawn at Wodson Park with Witham winning the replay three days later whilst a league cup game back at the Park was two months further on in the same year. That was also drawn before we won the penalty shoot out and went on to reach the semi-final.

This season Witham have started badly in the league, losing their first three matches and only avoided occupying the relegation place thanks to superior goal difference but last Monday's 1-0 home win over Barking lifted them clear of any immediate worries.

They defied their league position in the previous round of the cup, winning 1-0 away to Canvey Island suggesting that at this early stage of the season relative league positions may be misleading.
