Week 10

By Steve Risby

Good win for the twos but the ones lose

On a good pitch at Widford we won the toss and put Datchworth in to bat. Wickets were hard to come by but we restricted Datchworth to 190 for 2 off their 40 overs. The wickets went to Khan with another tight opening spell (8-2-21-2) and Hugh who made sure Datchworth couldn’t pile on the runs at the end. They were backed up well by Imran, Will, Danesh, Tom and Simon. A new opening partnership of Will and Joel put on 28 before Joel was out and Kyle joined Will at the wicket. Scoring quickly and finding the boundary with ease they put on 140 together before Will retired on 100. Kyle finished off 67 not out as we won with almost 13 overs to spare. We have three very winnable games in a row now against teams below us in the league.
The one's travelled to top of the table Potten End and lost by 40 runs. The best fielding performance of the season backed up some great bowling. Again the spin combo of Scott, Graeme and Darren put the pressure on. Sam and Ben opened up the bowling well and Phil was hostile off a couple steps. Great catches by Nick, Ant and Tom behind the stumps. Ware were smashed in the early overs but Scott held it together superbly, and with Tom started to rebuild the innings but we lost regular wickets but got over 150 thanks to a fantastic partnership of 59 between Nick 44 and Sam 26. A decent effort.
