Amazing effort Imran!!

With the firsts at home the Twos made the short trip to Thundridge for a friendly against Tewin 2nds who beat us in the league a few weeks ago. Tewin won the toss and batted first. A good opening spell from Khan made an initial breakthrough and then two run outs got rid of the next two batsman – first a good piece of fielding from Rob Duke and then a direct hit from Imran with only one stump to aim at. Sam Compton bowled 5 good overs to keep things tight and Danesh took 4 wickets as Tewin finished on 189 for 9 in their 40 overs.

In reply we slumped to 18 for 5 before Simon and Imran came together. A stand of 160 took us to the brink of victory before Simon was out for 69. A couple of late wickets made things interesting but Imran hit a four to finish 85 not out as we got there for 8 wickets down.

Two friendly victories to finish the season with good results against teams that beat us in the league.

The one's finished off the league season with a fixture against Offley and Stopsley. Phil won the toss and we batted first and it soon became clear that this was a much stronger side we were facing than the first game. Tight bowling kept our run rate down but all but 2 of us got to double figured with Kev and Hugh batting well in particular. A score of 170 was set thanks to Scott getting quick runs at the end. Two early wickets for Devon including the bat who got runs at their place. We lost our way in the middle overs but when Graeme got their opener out we thought we could get them but they still had decent bats to come in and they got home with 6 balls left. A superb tea finished it all off in style.
