A dedicated group of volunteers together with our groundsman, Dan have completed a drainage project to improve drainage on the "side pitch" and hopefully ensure that in the worst of winters we can still get games played for both senior and colts teams.
Last season saw the 5th wettest winter on record and devastated our playing season. This deprived our members of their football and the club of much needed income.
The project involved digging a 60m trench along the bottom of the pitch with a 75m trench parallel with the lower training area to take the water away. There are also two trenches designed to catch water running down the natural slop and stop it turning the lower goal mouth into marsh land
At this stage we do not know if this will be effective but we live in hope and we have at least tried to improve the position for our members.
The project was funded by the Football Foundation.
