Woodland Albion 5 Warlingham 'A' 1

In a week when the whole club were again struggling for players it was hugely dissapointing that two players failed to show, and, as a result the 'A' team played a very well organised side with a bare eleven. Combined with the heat they were always going to struggle and Woodland could have scored a few more. That said the boys tried their hearts out and never gave up. Connor, Richard, James and Jack all filled in in strange positions to them and all did exceptionally well, especially Connor and Richard. Wars created several good chances themselves, particularly in the first half. Even at 5-0 with 20minutes to go and reduced to ten men, Richard sustaining an injury which forced him off, they still kept looking for a consolation, then with 'Smurf' and 'Shandy' being reduced to hobbling passengers they finally got their consolation with the best goal of the game. Sean set Lee free down the left wing and as he drove into the box he fired a low ball across the 6 yard box and Tony was on hand to slot it home.
All eleven players can be proud of their performance and when the two 'absentees' return to the fold (they know who they are, I won't publically embarass them!!) I hope they have the good grace to apologise to the team
