Ducks knock the stuffing out of Wars

A glorious day and a home cup tie agains local rivals Tatsfield. We had 13 going into the match and were looking for a result to lift our spirits. Tatsfield looked like a decent side but we were confident we could get through to the next round.

We started fairly well, working hard and passing well. Tatsfield however were very up for it and were chasing down every single ball. We lacked a bit of composure and were forced into mistakes by a team that wanted to win this game. After about 20 minutes Tatsfield broke through and there striker did well to get past Dave Stuart and gave Mash no chance to put us 1 behind. Although we were 1 down we battled really well and continued to fight for position, Tatsfield continued to just have the edge and took us not the break 1 behind.

We were working well and playing as a team, midfield and defence were working hard but we weren't getting enough opportunities upfront. Tatsfield were playing well and knocking the ball about confidently and it was tough to see how we were going to get back into the game. The ball just wasn't running for us and it was no surprise when we had an unfortunate mix up at the back which left the ball beautifully for a Tatsfield striker to bang it in. Again no chance for Mash and very demoralising for the boys. We tried to claw our way back into the game and give ourselves some hope but Tatsfield didn't read the script and scored again with a great header from a corner. 3 0 and no real chance of getting anything out of the game now! The game had been played in a good spirit and so when one of the puny little Tatsfield stick insects tried to attack Jack he quite rightly tried to defend himself, the ref got it wrong and booked both players. George then put in a challenge about 5 minutes later that saw him pick up a booking, a more ridiculous yellow card I haven't seen!!

So we went out of the cup quite rightly so to a better side on the day but we had not disgraced ourselves at all. We are missing something at the moment but we will get it right and hopefully get the results to lift us and move forward.
