Warlingham 6 Ripley Village 1

Another convincing performance
Despite being without 4 players from last week Wars still put in another fine performance in which we were always on top. Terry Lineker opened the scoring direct from a free kick on the quarter hour and quickly made it two a couple of minutes late latching on to a ball and lobbing the keeper. We then conceded a bizarre own goal when Dave young headed the ball softly back to Deano in goal only to see it go over his head, as Deano turned to chase it he slipped and was not able to recover in time to stop the ball rolling into the empty net. The two goal margin was restored by half time when Martin Bugden's fierce shot was unable to be stopped by the Ripley captain and both ended in the net. Half Time 3-1 to Wars
Unfortunately your reporter completely missed the 4th goal which came straight after half time and enabled Terry Lineker to complete his hat trick, he tells me that it was and absolute screamer from 30 yards. Wars remained in control with Young being replaced by Michael Brown, Danny Mac replacing Martin Bugden and Jamie Batt replacing Dean De Rosa.
Further goals came from Callum Nicholl captain for the day in the absence of James Cecil with a fine header and very late on from sub Danny Mac from the penalty spot after he had been brought down on the edge of the box.
All in all a good performance.
