We expected the game to be tight as they always are with WP and the game started in that fashion with chances at both ends although the better ones seemed to be falling to Warlingham. The deadlock was broken on 15 mins when watson headed in an Arthur corner. Wars went further ahead when Williams added a second in the 23rd minute. We then allowed WP back into the game following a dubious free kick awarded by the Referee. This then put WP in the ascendancy and after another free kick was awarded, which WP took quickly the ball hitting Joseph in the back of the head as he walked the Referee deciding that this deserved a booking fo not retiring the required distance. Joseph had the last laugh as he latched onto a through ball rounded the keeper and lashed the ball into an empty net 3-1 Wars. The refere then decided to be charitable to WP and award them a penalty just befor half time and book Coleman again I'm not sure what for. The penalty was duly despatched by the WP skipper and it looked like being 3-2 at half time but in stoppage time Blake popped up to score and we went in at half time 4-2.

The second half saw Warlingham take conrol of the game and create a number of chances after the expected early pressure from WP. Burton replace Williams on 70 mins and very quickly proved that he was too quick for the WP defence adding a fifth for Wars in the 71st minute with his first touch. Further substitutions saw Giles replace Jimmy White and Marks replace Robson. Burton again showed his speed in time added scoring his second and Wars sixth to make the final score 6-2 to give the Gaffer his first win on this ground.

Difficult to single out anyone in this great Team performance Coleman and Nicoli were solid at the back, Arthur and White bossed the midfield Robson's dead ball deliveries were excellent but the one who stood out for me was Gladwin who went about his tasks quietly and efficiently and had probably the best game that I have seen.
