Warlingham Vs Knaphill falls victim to the deluge.

At 9am on Saturday morning the pitch at Verdayne was looking in perfect condition despite the heavy downpour the previous evening.

When Knaphill began to arrive at 1pm it had been raining for an hour but still the Knaphill boys were complimentary about the condition of the pitch in comparision to their's which is considered one of the best in the League.

Within 20 minutes the weather had trasformed the scene and the heavy downpour coming in from the west had resulted in standing water all over the pitch. By the time referee Keith Slaughter arrived to make the final decision on play he was faced with a simple task. By 2pm the the rain was still coming and the pitch resembled a boating lake.

Game off.

To have a game called off this early in the season is unheard of and does not bode well for a very long season to come.

Pray for tropical sunshine!!
