Now in his second year with Leicester Tigers Academy, Tom Price has set himself clear targets inside and outside the game. He said: "I want to be a full time professional and gain international honours at as many levels as possible. My ideal plan is also to secure a university place and study for a career in sports coaching or sports events management centred on rugby."

Tom, a newcomer to the England U18 squad, has yet to wear the red rose jersey but possesses a strong rugby background, having played for Stratford-upon-Avon mini-juniors from the age of six to 16. His father Jerry was a flanker for Hertfordshire club Tabard and captained them for a couple of seasons in the 1980s.

Born in Leamington Spa and educated at Kineton Primary and High School, Tom is currently studying at Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth I Sixth Form College, Leicester. He is taking A and AS levels in Business Studies, English Language and PE, along with an Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) in association with the Tigers Academy.

Tom has represented Warwickshire U15, U16, U17 and U18 and last season appeared against England U16 for the Combined Academies U17 side that included players from 11 of the 14 regional England Rugby Academies. He won the Warwickshire U18 Best Forward award in 2009 and lifted the sporting excellence trophy at Kineton High School, whom he had captained.

He added: "My main mentor has been John Stretton, the head coach throughout my time at Stratford. He transformed me from a centre and wing through to Number 8 and then to second row. James Daly, my sports coach at school, also guided my rugby career. Players who stand out for me are Tom Croft and Ali Williams and there's a great spectator atmosphere at Welford Road and even more so when you're privileged to play there for the Tigers.

"My most memorable match so far was my debut start for the academy against Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park last season - and we came away with a win.
