Time to chat with the 2nd XV Manager, Chris Allen.

What is your rugby story?

On my first day of high school after moving from Germany I was told that rugby training was the next night and I had to go :) played second row for youth rugby and then stop playing when I was 16. Returned to rugby when I was 26 after recovering from surgery and was asked to play prop as we were short for that game. Loved the position so stayed there for another 3 years until I was then forced to stop due to a knee injury. Was planning a return a couple of years ago, however surgery for abdominal hernia caused me to hang up boots forever. Been coaching rugby since I was 25 covering under 9s up to colts and now adult rugby.

Outside of Rugby, what do you do?

I am a Quality Assurance Manager for a Chemical Manufacturer.

How would you describe Watton RFC?

A very welcoming and friendly club. Not from the area, but was made to feel very welcomed. Since being involved in the club you can definitely tell that every single member of the club is valued and that it is definitely a #2teams1squad club which many aren't.

What is it that you're most looking forward to when we start the season?

Getting back into coaching and running the 2s. I'm even looking forward to standing in the rain and snow just to get back to the game we all love.

What would be your dream after match 3 course meal?

Starter Breaded Garlic Mushrooms. Main A nice bit of rare steak, chips and bernaise sauce. Dessert white chocolate cheesecake. Or anything Carole makes :)

What are your must watch, read and listen recommendations?

Must watch is The Boys on Amazon Prime.
Must read is Sam Warburton's autobiography.
Must listen is an old one but Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park

What advice would you give to new and / or returning players?

Have fun and play with a smile on your face. You will make mistakes but it's how you recover from them that matters. Take it from me your a long time retired once you stop playing.

What are your favourite Rugby moments?

International would be anytime Wales beat England ;)
Club wise would be getting to play on the same pitch as my brother and my dad for a season. Can not beat the feeling of playing the game with family.

Where would you love to go on tour?

Well we now have a contact in California in Jamie, I'm sure he can put us all up for a tour there ;)

Lastly, and most importantly, what is your tipple of choice?

Couple Pints of cider and then JD and Coke.
