Waverley visited Loxwood for the first time on Sunday and came away a little bruised as the home sides’ openers Nicholl and Seeley, who knew the idiosyncrasies of their own pitch, appeared to like the Waverley opening attack as they were on 57 at 6 an over before they were separated. Jefferies and M Macdonald put on 51 and the rest of the team contributed well, finding the boundary regularly. S Knox plugged away with the ball and was justly rewarded but it was the introduction of P Brewer that capped the innings.
Day and Golding started well for Waverley but it was the pitch that eventually beat Day. Harris’s straight bat kept him in good stead and his runs along with M Du Gay’s that stopped Waverley from a complete rout. F
Macdonald bowled extremely well in his two spells not the least his occasional vicious leg break. A good fixture that is hoped by both sides to be repeated next season.
Thanks to Mr B for the match report.
