Lynchmere’s openers put on 23 against Adrian Day and Sam Tempest before Clarke holed out Day. By this time Tom Cain had already signalled his intent by scoring 3 of his 19 boundaries. Malcom Garrard went next and at 143-3 the home side looked set for a big total but Dan Litwin
trapped Cain LBW and the side collapsed to 155-9. Litwin collecting a five-for and Peter Brewer 3.
After tea Simon Cain and Pete Varnes soon accounted for two of the visitors and after a stand of 30 between Jim Wright and Simon Brewer, Wright fell. Brewer then took the senior role and began himself knocking the boundaries about and with Litwin put on 80 for the
fifth pair before he was bowled by Stan Murrell for his 3rd wicket. Now with just 5 runs needed for victory Waverley captain Day duly obliged.
