Hosts edge tight game

Waverley’s openers Jim Wright and Jamie Harris were soon parted when Harris chopped on to Chris Pow. Wright went on to make 24 when he was bowled by Nick Green, who also took out two top batsmen in Ben Harris (for a duck) and Simon Brewer (for 7). This clearly rattled the visitors forcing Chris Beanland (41) to dig in and with skipper Adrian Day (20) put on 51 for the 6th wicket. However, Waverley were soon out for a meagre 126 with Fred Cousins collecting 4 wickets.

Ali Mortiboys, bowling well, grabbed both the Frensham openers but this brought together Tim Nicholls and Chris Pow whose partnership of 70 seemed to sink the visitors; but when these two were out a change in fortune took place and wickets fell rapidly. It was 118-9 when skipper Alex Warren joined young Harry Faulkner, who batted superbly to stay in and see his side home, although Ben Harris with 4 wickets couldn’t prise him out.
