Waverley elected to bat on this their last game of the season and after a 3rd ball wicket by Jack Berwick, the first two having been wides, Russ Golding soon put the travellers among the runs. After his dismissal Simon Brewer joined Adrian Day for a platform stand of 85. Three more pairings added 63 to enable the visitors to declare at tea, with Berwick grabbing two more and Simon Brewer hitting 3 massive 6s in his 85 before being yorked, even with a straight bat.
After the break Andy Rooke ripped Rudgwick’s upper echelon apart and at one point took 5 wkts for 0 runs in two overs. A change in bowling brought a change in fortunes as the home side dug in and could not be prised out, it was Berwick again this time with 32 not out saving the game in a well fought rear guard action to end both club’s season. An absorbing game of cat and mouse.
