The rearranged match against Hendon was played on a sunny Saturday morning at Grosvenor Vale. Previous matches had been close so we expected a tight game. The early stages were dominated by midfield battles and strong defending on both sides, with neither goal keeper being called into action very much. In the 2nd quarter the Hendon winger broke down the right and managed to hold off the defender, pulling the ball back their striker finished into the bottom corner. Shortly after Hendon broke into the box and were awarded a penalty for a late tackle, the striker stepped up by Harrison dived well to his left and made a magnificent save to keep it at 1-0. In the 3rd quarter, Wealdstone started to play better attacking football. Playing some nice passing football we managed to break down the wings, but couldn't find much space in the centre. A number of chances followed as we hit the bar, had shots cleared off the line and found a goalkeeper in good form, but Hendon got a lot of players around the ball and we never quite a clear opportunity. Into the 4th quarter and as we pressed forward Hendon hit us on the counter attack to make it 2-0, then as our midfielders tired they pressed again and out-numbered us and made it 3-0. A late goal from Patrick, following a through ball in behind their defence from Aidan got a consolation goal, but it just wasn't our day today. Everyone worked very hard on a hot day; Man of the Match went to Harrison for his goal keeping performance and an unselfish display on pitch.
