A match of two halves

The day started dry despite the gathering clouds. The whistle blew and Wealdstone were away down the pitch with a shot at goal that unfortunately went slightly wide, a few minutes later and again a shot at goal was off target, EJ and Rhys both had opportunities that just wouldn't seem to go in. Play moved up and down the pitch with about 60% of the time we were pushing into their half, Harry finally got a break to give us our first goal. Another near miss by Rhys and then we were given a corner, the ball shot into the melee of players in front of the goal with EJ making contact and Flynn making sure it hit the back of the net. Pitshanger came back and shot one hard past Jamie, 2-1. Play resumed and the goalies were both earning their keep, but Harry broke through again to make it 3-1 at the end of the first half.

The second half started and so did the rain, luckily us spectators had somewhere to shelter. I'm not sure what the team talk was like in the Pitshanger camp but it obviously worked as they came out strong on the attack and after a couple of near misses scored. Both teams missed chances at either end with Ollie making a couple of good runs, not helped by the odd slip and slide as the rain kept coming, but we finally got a corner that Flynn kicked home. Pitshanger were still strongly on the attack, Jamie came out and stopped a hard goal with his stomach/chest which was swiftly followed by 2 boots to the same area. But he's a strong lad and got back on his feet. Orange kept pushing and scored which was given even though it was called off side by the linesman, this bolstered them and in the last 6 minutes scored again to equalise. Wealdstone quickly kicked off and shot down the pitch with some strong passing, to Harry who hammered it home with a minute to spare.

Final score 5-4
Harry 3
Flynn 2
