Physical game of football with a lot of positives

Despite the result I thought we were the better side today. We played out from the back really well, controlled the middle of the park excellently. I thought the referee handled some of the physically really well too. You could see in the second quarter that a couple of Headstone players were getting rattled by the way we were able to pass and move around them but I was impressed with the way our boys stayed strong and didn't foul back. Headstone had a couple of really good players that could shoot from pretty much anywhere and the boys picked up that their tactics were to get the ball to one of these players and shoot. I am extremely happy with the way we played, Aitor as Captain led by example with some sterling half time team talks, I am so impressed with how some of the boys are now starting to read the game and take ownership of how they play on the field, this was very evident in how Aitor conducted himself today, excellent job. The third quarter saw both teams start to tire and it was brilliant end to end stuff, Alfie was the first to break the deadlock with a well worked move, staying strong on his feet and calmly finishing in the back of the net. Headstone equalised a few minutes later with a rocket of a shot Farryl could do nothing about. The fourth quarter I could see all the boys had worked their socks off, the pitch was very heavy and it started to take a toll, lack of concentration and a silly mistake saw Headstone take a 3-1 lead, but the boys kept at it until the very end and were unlucky not to get another goal. Farryl was briiliant in goal again today and was a well deserved Man of the Match along side Alfie who has improved massively this past few weeks. All in all I think there are a few things we need to work on and tighten up but I think you'll agree it was an excellent showing from the boys today, well done.
