Badgers No game this week and there will be no game next week
2nd team were away at Wolverhampton 3rds and came away with a convincing win with goals scored by Mark Whitehouse, Luke Mackenzie, Dumiso and Sunny Mehmi. Nothing from the centre forward this week eh Ryan. Need to keep this up lads well done.
3rd team were away against high flying Kingswinford who are the best team in this division and should easily win promotion this season. Wednesbury 3rds turned out with key players missing for this game but I feel that if we had our usual centre forward we may well have come out of this game flying a lot better. I must say that the end score line of 8 v 0 may have not been quite so bad. Young Dan Frost in goal stopped K/ford from scoring telephone numbers and he played his socks of and therefore gets MoM once again. Thanks also to Phil Giles who took a couple of the line. The young players all made a name for themselves today and many of the opposition came across to speak to me about the talent that was lying there.
A mention to another of the older lads that have been given a chance to have a run out in the 3rds goes to TJ Roberts who gave it a good go at right half, well done and also to Jason Palmer and Callum Rummins again. Keep it up lads it will come.
3rds were out again today 25th Oct having to play the 1st game of the season, against Worcester 7th, as we were only informed we had got a place in the league less than 24 hours before it was due to play. The rearranged game took place this morning at 11.00am and boy what a game. Within the space of the first 3 minutes both Sarwar and Jones had shots that were inches away from goal. Wednesbury pressured but for only the next 10 minutes and it looked like we were going to get over run as Worcester as they piled on the pressure. They had penalty corners galore and we still held on until around the 23 minute mark a penalty corner that keeper Frost was only an inch away from, he needed a longer left leg, saw them take the lead and continued to look the better team.
Second half was much the same with them pressurising so much that a goal looked likely for them sooner rather than later.
The team settled down quickly and then the tide turned again for only a few minutes until Callum Rummins earned a penalty corner. The keeper saved but the ball went dangerously into the air and it was retaken. I dont think many of us saw what happened but the ball found its way to Sarwar's stick and the equaliser was in. Shock was all you could see in the eyes of the Worcester players as they looked likely to not get the win. Thats how it played out for the last few minutes and the robbery was concluded. Well earned 1 v 1 draw and well played lads, it will come. Todays MoM is Callum Rummns who played his socks off.
