1st Team

The First team played away against a strong Finchfield seconds outfit who are a hard team at the best of times and Wednesbury made a good show losing in the dying minutes of the game.

Wednesbury played well and matched Finchfield throughout a fast paced game which they chased all the way to 3 v 3 but the last few minutes of the game saw Finchfield just pinch the points with a final score of 4 v 3. Satnam Singh getting a hat trick.

Well done lads

2nd Team

The seconds had bad luck today losing unnecessarily 2 v 0 away to Sutton Coldfield 5ths.

There have been difficulties with selection especially this Saturday where at one point both Ryan and myself didn’t know who we had in our squads. Players saying they are available and then dropping out last minute. When the 1st team captain has lost 5 men in48 hours it gives a big problem further down the club. Although we could field the 3 teams it is not good when you have no subs or just one in some cases.

This is to all players no names to be called but if you say yes then please follow that commitment through and play.

3rd Team

Played at home this week at 11.30am against Old Wulfs 4ths

And the game was a good one

It started well with Wednesbury playing a full press and Grant Jones had put two attempts just wide within the first 6 mins. Two short corners with no goals for Wednesbury were on 11 mins but the big surprise came form the most unlikely of players who just came alight in this game. Nathan Jones from nowhere scored a great goal on 15 mins and then a second on 16 mins. Wednesbury looked fired up as Jones on 19 mins then Dan Dunning on 21 mins could have both scored.

On 25 mins however Jason Palmer who had been very quiet and seemed out of the game but it appears he was just biding his time. Nathan Jones, Shiv Sharma and Jason Palmer worked a sweet little one touch passing game into the “D” and the last ball across the goal saw the defence and the keeper lost as Palmer slotted home number 3 for Wednesbury.

Half time came and went but the 4th goal came 1 min in as Sarwar dived in and the ball flicked of his stick into the top of the net. Here is where I thought we would get complacent as on 42 mins Old Wulfs hit back to make it 4 v 1.

However Nathan Jones seemed a bit miffed at this and on 55 mins scored a neat goal getting him his hat trick and Wednesbury on to 5 v 1.

Old Wulfs did get the ball in the net but it was disallowed due to a blocking off incident. With 10 mins to go Shiv Sharma popped up to score goal number 6 and sign off a good game of hockey.

This coming week we are away at Aldridge and Walsall for a 4.00pm push

Badgers

Badgers won yesterday 10 / nil as the score seemed to be going into telephone numbers. They played away at Bloxwich but as I am informed they were simply a run away side
