Wednesbury 2-2 Sutton

1st Team played at home on 15th against a high riding Sutton Coldfield 3's who are a relatively young side with a lot of energy.

The game went along pretty much even's for a while but the younger squad broke well and put a lot of pressure on Wednesbury defence. Ethan Westley stepping up for Jack Simmonds who was unavailable but Ethan put in a good shift and played a really good game.The same can be said for one of the oolder players on the Sutton team who played a good game in goal.

Wednesbury had their chances and Marcus Bourne scored the first goal halfway through the first half only to see Sutton equalise just before half time.

Nathan Bourne had by far the best chance in the second half to put Wednesbury back infront when Sunny Mehmi had been dragged wide. Mehmi saw Bourne make the run and played a sweet reverse stick pass for Bourne to fire in but as he struck the ball an outstretchedstick did enough to break down the chance. Disappointing as Bourne had been disallowed a goal in the first half when a ball lifted awkwardly and his pick up and strike saw the ball in the net. The decision was a free hit to the opposition as the initial liftedball was considered to be dangerous.

Sutton went ahead from a short corner well saved by WEstley on his post but the clearance was picked up by Sutton who struck again to the same post but the Wednesbury marker had wandered and in that split second the ball was put back in beyond the keepersreach.

Wednesbury were still not done and with minutes of the game left Mike Brown saw a chance and slotted the ball sweetly past several players and found Mehmi's stick. The slight touch was enough fool attackers and defenders alike and found its way into the backof the net. Although both sides continued to attack the whistle blew and the result was 2 v 2
