Wednesbury 4-0 Stone

1st team played at home against a strong Stone (2) but Wednesbury were too strong yesterday and won 4 v 0,

Wednesbury came out strong but were shocked when they lost the ball and Stone broke, it was only down to the defence and Jack Simmonds in goal that stopped Wednesbury going down quickly. Wednesbury then buckled down and it looked like Stone were never going to cause any troubled but they continued to pressurise at every chance.

Wednesbury looked a much better team and were so much more at ease and this proved to be true when Satnam Singh got number one on 20 mins. Number 2 came 5 minutes later when Marcus Bourne having had a shot parried went in for the rebound only to be taken out by the keeper. A flick was awarded and Scott Craddock stepped up to the plate. I have to say at this point I felt sorry for the Stone keeper as Craddock completely miss hit the ball and it trickled into the keepers near post.

Two nil at half time looked respectable but it could have been more had all chances been taken. However 2 minutes into the second half and Wednesbury went 3 v 0 up when Marcus Bourne scored on 37 minutes. The game was fast and furious for the rest of the second half with Wednesbury clearly having most of the game but Stone looked good for a goal on the break. It was only disciplined defence and good keeping that kept Stone from scoring and they missed a number of good chances too.

The last goal from a penalty corner on the final whistle which saw Bourne again put the ball in the back of the net.
