Both 1st and XI won on Saturday. In the 1st XI game at Kilmarnock the home team batted first and initially made good progress, getting to 82 for 2. But then a massive collapse saw them bowled out for just 96, Sameer Zia taking 5 wickets for Weirs. Weirs got to the victory target for the loss of just 2 wickets. Sameer Zia capped a fine all round performance with 53 and skipper Zulfi Shahid scored 30 not out.

At Albert Park Weirs 2nd XI won a rain interrupted game against East Renfrewshire by 69 runs. Albert Park batted first and made 150 before East Renfrewshire were bowled out for just 81. The first ever Saturday league meeting between the clubs ended in victory for Weirs.

Sunday saw possibly the best win of the weekend as Weirs faced Edinburgh Accies in the Scottish Cup at Albert Park. The visitors batted first but never really got going and were bowled out just 82. Sameer Zia yet again was a star man for Weirs with 3 cheap wickets. Weirs reached their target of 83 for the loss of just 2 wickets with Zulfi Shahid scoring 32.

Weirs will face West of Scotland at Albert Park in the next round on 23rd June.
