The 1st team game on Saturday was abandoned but the 2nd team finished their game and enjoyed a good win against Glasgow Accies.

When Weirs played Glasgow Accies earlier in the season it wasn't a happy experience for various reasons. So Weirs were keen to make amends on Saturday.

The 1st XI game was at Anniesland and Weirs started as if they meant to make up for what happened earlier in the season, reducing the home team to 20-4 with Irfan Shah bowling brilliantly. Unfortunately heavy rain came on at that point and the game had to be abandoned with no further play.

The weather was kinder at Albert Park though for the 2nd team game. Albert Park were put into bat on a damp pitch and openers Zahid Hussain (66) and Abbas Arfeen (50) made slow but steady progress. They survived a few scares but were both patient and took advantage of any loose deliveries to record a superb opening partnership of 141. A nice cameo at the end of the innings by Abid Raza helped the score up to 174 off 40 overs.

As Anniesland began their reply, Albert Park started to take wickets regularly. Zahid and Abbas followed up their contributions with the bat by each taking 3 wickets with the ball. Albert Park also helped their cause by taking some great catches, particularly Sheroz Akram in the deep and Craig Greenwood at slip. When Anniesland were reduced to 110 for 9, still 65 short of victory, Albert Park looked certain to win. But Anniesland final pair of Shah and Greene had other ideas. They both batted aggressively and well to move the total on to 153 and threatened to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. But Adnan Khalid came up with a wicket-taking delivery to have Greene caught behind and win the game for Albert Park by 21 runs. After last week's defeat at Irvine Albert Park were delighted to get back to winning ways.

Sunday's match against Victoria was cancelled due to rain.
