The weekend cricket was heavily affected by the weather. At George V playing fields Weirs 1st XI faced Renfrew. Weirs batted first and recorded one of their best batting efforts of the season, posting 198-9 off 50 overs. Ghulam Raja top scored with 63 and David McCaig weighed in with 39.
Although Weirs had a decent total to defend for the first time in a while it didn't prove to be nearly enough. The Renfrew openers, Malik and Nawaz had steered them to 103 for 0 off 24.3 overs when play had to be stopped due to rain. That meant a comfortable victory for Renfrew on Duckworth Lewis method.
At Albert Park, the Weirs 2nd string faced Deanpark. The visitors batted first and got off to a good start but Albert Park pegged them back. Deanpark were 156 for 9 off 45.3 overs when the game was abandoned due to a torrential downpour. Ahmed Ashraf, Salim Sabir, Chris Smith and Usman Sarfraz all took 2 wickets for Albert Park in a performance that certainly offered encouragement for the second half of the season.
The Sunday League match against Kelburne was cancelled due to persistent rain.
