Another good win ,against a good Ellesmere side

Wellington produced a strong performance in a 3-0 win at Ellesmere in August ,and today again produced another 3-0 success. We started strongly and created a few chances ,the best from James Hancock but unfortunately he dragged his shot just wide of the far post .In the 12 th minute newly wed Josh Hunt on his first game back after his honeymoon,collected the ball 35yds out ,drove at the Ellesmere defence and as he got to the 18 yd box ,hit a curling unstoppable shot past the goalkeeper .
If Wellington thought they were in control of the game ,they were in for a shock as Ellesmere responded well to the early setback ,and began to have a dominant display ,creating good chances ,but were unable to take them . And as always happens,if you miss chances you end up paying for it ,and in the 33rd minute a long through ball to Josh again he burst through the Ellesmere defence,drew out the goalkeeper,went around him,and stroked the ball into the empty net to make it 2-0 ,which is how it went into half time .
The second half started again with Ellesmere pushing forward and trying to create chances ,they had lots of possession and pressed Wellington back,and Wellington playing on the counter attack . Ellesmere had some good chances to get back into the game but the final ball or shot let them down a numerous occasions . Wellington showed mental strength to keep Ellesmere out with the whole team defending to a man ,especially the centre half’s Steve Goodwin & Jack Lewis ,and Goalkeeper Matt Apperley who commanded his goal ,&made good saves at crucial times .
Finally in the 89th minute ,Wellington got thier 3rd ,as from a free kick Paul (Norm) Jones ,burst into the box ,went past his defender ,and then picked out substitute Will Perkins in the 6 yd area ,and Will calmly stroked the ball home to ensure the 3pts. A game where we rode our luck at times ,but a clean sheet and another 3pts made the evening one we could all enjoy
