After a 2 week layoff ,WellingtonFC first home game of 2018 was against a strong Wednesfield side . The game started well for the home side ,when after 13 minutes a free kick was awarded to WellingtonFC,and Will Perkins fired the kick straight into top left hand corner . The rest of the first half was an even contest with both sides only creating half chances ,with neither goalkeeper overstretched . The second half a much more determined Wednesfield came out looking to push Wellington back . Wellington kept them at bay until the 66th minute,when a cross in from the left was headed in past Matt Apperley. This gave Wednesfield to confidence they needed to push on . They began to dominate the game creating chances ,if not clear cut ones until the 77th minute when the visitors played the ball accross the Wellington area ,for a strike from the left side of the area to go into far post of the net . Wellington found it hard to respond to this blow ,and despite trying to force the issue ,Wednesfield scored a 3rd in the 92nd minute ,when the Wellington defence allowed a ball to bounce on the edge of the area ,and the visiting player drove on into the box ,and slid the ball into the net to make it 3-1 to Wednesfield. A poor 2nd half display by WellingtonFC,but credit must go to Wednesfield who outmuscled their opponents to take the 3 points back home with them
