Yeovil helped by young 16th playe, to score seven try's

On a perfect autumnal afternoon, crowds gathered at Knott Field to see Westbury Ladies try their luck against the top of the league, Yeovil Ladies.

Yeovil Ladies, kicked off, but the ball was lost at the ruck and Yeovil were soon on the charge. Their progress to the try line was made a little easier by a small child who ran on the pitch. Westbury Ladies had to put the brakes on their defence to protect the child. The boy left the pitch without a scratch, but Yeovil had already etched 5 points onto the score board. Unconverted.

In the first half Yeovil went on to score a further four tries with two being converted. Westbury executed a strong maul making good progress up the pitch and had a great break by Lana Plummer. The Westbury Ladies also made some great tackles during the fast paced first half but couldn’t hold Yeovil Ladies back.

The half time team talk saw the Westbury Ladies regroup. They started the second half with a lot more ball in procession and got up into Yeovil half. Jordan Frayne fought her way through Yeovil’s defence and crossed the whitewash. The try went unconverted by Lana Plummer. This brought the score to 5 31.

Yeovil Ladies went on to score two more tries with one being converted. The final score was Westbury Ladies 5 and Yeovil Ladies 43.

Congratulations to Jodie Bartlett who had her first game for Westbury Ladies having been training with the team for some time but only recently turned eighteen.

Forward of the match went to the try scoring Jordan Frayne and back of the match went to Beth Dombkowski.

Westbury Ladies have a week off before they meet Melksham on 5th December.
