Unfortunately, due to availability, they travelled with a weakened side

Westbury 1st xv travelled to Sutton Benger Saturday looking to continue on the good form they have shown in 2016. Unfortunately, due to availability they travelled with a weakened side.

Right from kick off, Westbury were put under pressure when Sutton benger crossed the whitewash to score an early try and unfortunately 5 minutes later the vistors were further behind when Sutton benger were awarded a penalty putting Westbury 8-0 behind.

Westbury were rattled and didn't settle into there regular style of play and errors began to creep in and the home side again capitalised by scoring and converting another try. Sutton benger 15 Westbury 0.

To further Westbury's plight they went down by a 3rd try just 5 minutes later. The extras missed making it 20-0 at half time.

Needless to say after a stiff talking to by Head Coach Chris Bush and some stirring words by stand-in captain Nigel Kershaw, the Westbury team started the second half believing a comeback was on the cards and straight away prop Reece Ball crossed the try line Kershaw unfortunately missing the extras 20-5.

The Westbury pack began to play as they have all season and some strong attacking play lead to fellow prop Daniel Haines crashing over to score Westbury's second try, Nigel Kershaw adding the extras. Sutton Benger 20 Westbury 12.

This dominance continued and the Westbury team now full of belief piled the pressure on and 10 minutes later Scrum Half Matthew Inseal crossed the white wash to score Westbury's 3rd. Kershaw again adding the extras. Sutton Benger 20 Westbury 19. The Westbury team plowed forward trying to grab the final points to finalise their comeback. Unfortunately with just 10 minutes to go, Sutton Benger were awarded a penalty which they duly converted affectively securing the win final score. Sutton benger 23 Westbury 19.

Coach Chris Bush was full of praise for his side's second half performance but critical of the way they started the game he added, there are a lot of positives and a lot of negatives we can take from this performance into next weeks' fixture.
