Match Report

Another week of player availability issues for Chilt preceded an excellent cup win. Missing this week were Leppard, Daly, Burns, Dann, McCafferty, De Gruchy, Hilditch, Rickman and Newton. Thankfully, Langley and Weedon returned after missing the previous week's win at Henfield. Zack Sanderson, Tom Reeves and Lorne Andrews came in from the reserves.

The new facilities at Stedham are excellent and the surface looked in great condition for this Malcolm Simmonds Cup game. The game started fairly evenly but Weedon broke the deadlock when he headed home a Monaghan cross. A swift Chilt counter attack led to Hills sprinting through and slotting calmly from a tight angle. Weedon got Chilt's third just before half time.

WCFC stalwart Lorne Andrews came on for Tom Reeves and scored (probably his first goal in many years) after gambling on a Craig Pulling flick on. Zack Sanderson then entered the game and made his first team debut. Within minutes he had scored a fantastic goal, when he shot from 20 yards into the top corner. It was soon six for Chilt when Pulling set up Hills for a tap in. Stedham scored a great goal with a lovely dinked finish from their centre midfielder. Weedon then completed his perfect hat trick, before Stedham got another to make it 7-2. Sanderson got his second of the game when he scored at the back post following good work by Weedon. Final score 8-2.

M.O.M for the second week running was Ash Hills.

A great performance from Chilt and it was good to see Zack Sanderson produce a very good display when he came on. There was some serious speed in attack when Hills, Weedon and Sanderson were on the pitch. Next round we face Fernhurst from Division 1.
