Match Report

Missing this week was Scott Pulling, Dan Leppard, Scott Wolters and Matt Dann. However, Chilt had a very strong squad for this game.

Dave Williams was back in goal for Chilt, who was a key member of a squad in 2012/2013. Also returning were Charlie Monaghan, Paul McCafferty and Ryan De Gruchy.

Chilt started with a very attacking line up and really should have had the game sewn up by half time. We must have missed at least 6 very good chances and only went in 1-0 up. A Charlie Monaghan penalty after Gary Weedon had been fouled in the box. Paul McCafferty was showing his usual class on the right wing and his intelligent movement unlocked the Holbrook defence on numerous occasions in the first half.

The second half was a totally different affair. Holbrook started very brightly and Matt Warren scored a good header at the back post following a corner kick. The momentum was swinging in Holbrook's favour now, so Chilt made a change. Craig Pulling replacing Ash Hills, which allowed Josh Burns to move into the number 10 role. Shortly after, Craig Pulling played through Gary Weedon and he was hauled down by the on rushing Holbrook keeper in the box. Craig Pulling converted the penalty. Chilt were then awarded a third penalty following a handball by Dan Skett. This time Gary Weedon dispatched the penalty kick. Shortly after, Craig Dawson hit a cross into the box and Gary Weedon somehow managed to get on the end of it to make 4-1.

With 5 minutes remaining, Skett pulled one back for Holbrook following a well delivered set piece. Then with 3 minutes remaining Chris Spiers scored an unbelievable volley after a Holbrook corner had been cleared to the edge of the box. Chilt just managed to see out the remaining minutes and progress to the next round.

We are now away to Lavant in the next round.
