Merseyside Club welcomes its 50th new member in the last two years

West Derby HC are pleased to confirm the signing of Dave Crawford from Mossley Hill HC this week, who beomes the club's landmark 50th new signing since the implementation of the club's 2012 Redevelopment Plan.

Speaking on Thursday, Head Coach Mat Gotts said "This is terrific news, not only because of the qualities that Dave brings to the team, but because it demonstrates that we continue to be an attractive option for those players looking to play at the higher levels of the game."

In recruiting Crawford, West Derby supporters have now seen their club treble in size, compared to pre-2012 levels. Speaking on the subject of the club's burgeoning membership, Gotts said: "That the club has effected a successful turnaround in such a short space of time is remarkable, and testament to efforts of those who have worked tirelessly to make it happen. Our commitment is to hard work, disciplined training and respect for one another, and what we have seen over the last two years is that more and more people like what they see being done here, and are choosing to get involved. We achieved a double promotion two years ago and a further two promotions and a third place finish last year, which demonstrates that our new programme doesn't just look good on paper, but also delivers results on the pitch."

West Derby Hockey Club currently runs three men's and two ladies' teams, and is always pleased to welcome prospective members of all ages and abilities. All enquiries should be sent to westderbyhc@gmail.com
