Warton won the toss and elected to bat first and were bowled out for 64 from 23.4 overs. Tom Barnfield (29) top scored, while Zak Buchanan (5-30) was the pick of the bowlers.
In response, Westgate chased down the total in just under 11 overs losing two wickets. Dylan Conroy (36*) top scored.
Two drinks breaks per innings was the order of the day on a sultry afternoon at Cross Hill Park and because of the holiday season and having no second team Warton turned up with only 10 players and an under strength bowling attack.
Three of the drinks breaks were not needed as Warton decided to bat first and were in turmoil from the start of their innings. Zak Buchanan got a wicket in each of his first two overs and had 3-5 after four overs, and an out of sorts Sam Conroy in borrowed boots picked up a wicket in a short spell and was replaced by namesake Dylan who was promptly struck for 10 in his first over by the impressive Tom Barnfield (29).
Dylan soon found his rhythm and put in a spell of three wickets for two runs in returning 3 for 15.
Zak Buchanan bowled throughout getting his usual 'five for figures' this time 11.4 - 3 - 30 - 5. Some superb catching helped these bowling returns with Dave Hannigan taking two belters, while Sam Conroy and Sam Frith took one each. A score of 64 a. o. was unlikely to cause the home batters much of a problem.
This was the case as a classy 17 from Garry Tattersall set the finish up for the swashbuckling Dylan Conroy who smashed five fours and two sixes in an 18 ball undefeated 36 to see Westgate to an eight wicket victory in 10 overs and on to 103 points as the season approaches the half-way mark. The top three of Arnside, Carnforth and Westgate are now separated by five points.
