Westgate earn first 15 points of the season and the first in a long time at Burneside

Batting first, Westgate posted 161-6 from 45 overs, with Dylan Conroy (52) top scoring. Lewis Richardson (2-27) and Nathan Chambers (2-43) both took two wickets.

In response the hosts, who were a man down when it came to batting due to an injury during the first innings, were all out for 130. Ethan Ellwood (24) top scored, while Dylan Conroy (3-28) was the top wicket taker for Westgate.

With the wicket slowed by the recent downpours, the opening partnership of 27 was cautious.

With the returning Chris Dixon joining Nathan Chambers, Ben Leacock, Louis Richardson (10 - 4 - 27 - 2) and Ethan Ellwood the home attack looked strong. Garry Tattersall pressed the accelerator and completed a fine 45, he took part in a second wicket stand of 75 with the imperious Dylan Conroy who stroked his way to a classy 52.

Quick-fire scores of 22 and 15no from Hill and Chris Carter respectively pushed the total to a very respectable 161. Unfortunately for the home team ex skipper Stephen Cooper suffered what appeared to be a season ending injury and meant they would only have 10 men in the second half.

None of the visiting bowlers looked really threatening but the Burneside boys kept getting in and then throwing their wickets away in an attempt to finish the game early. Simon Hook (20), Ellwood (24), Richardson (22) and the returning Ryan Shepherd (12) all contributed.

The visitors were magnificent in the field with six catches and two super stumpings from Phil Harvey. Sam Conroy (2 for 31), Andy Nisbet (2 for 20), Dylan Conroy (3 for 28) and Hill (2 for 4) shared the bowling honours as the innings closed on 130.
