Sunniva Ovstebo Næss have been awarded senior female player of the year after a great season, in which she was a dominating presence.
With 82 goals scored in the Premier Handball League, she ended up being the third top scorer of the league, leading the team as expected from the captain.
It was the EHA Cup though, which was the peak moment of the season for both our club and Sunniva. In a match broadcast by BBC Sport, West London Eagles won after double extra time and Sunniva was one of the outstanding elements of fantastic team effort, showing versatility on the court. One-on-one actions, steals and fast breaks with a kempa goal on top, all in the most important game of the season.
The second award, for the best U19 female player of the year went to Zoe Lacour, who had her hands full this season with being a part of both the first and the U19 team, as well as being called into U19 GB national team.
Together with the U19 Eagles she ended up with silver medal in the national championship after the final lost to Stroud. On the next day, Zoe was playing another game, with senior team in the already mentioned EHA Cup final and despite being the youngest player on the court that day, you would not be able to tell that from her contribution to the team.
The U19 GB national team still have the EHF Championship in Bulgaria ahead of them, so Zoe already successful season is not yet finished for her.
Well done to both Sunniva and Zoe and we wish you even more achievments in the future.
