After the one goal difference win against Cambridge HC, which was secured in the last seconds of the game by the save from Alex Pechlivanis, men's first team faced today NEM Hawks in the another difficult game, looking to improve their league standing in the penultimate game of current season.
The first half started favourably for our team when Eagles managed to stay one goal ahead of their opponent, with Joachim Ernst (in the picture) and Saimon Urbutis scoring four goals each from the total 10 attained in the first 22 minutes of the game. Unfortunately, from this period till the end of the first half, our team was unable to score any more goals while Hawks, on the other hand, steadily came to an ever increasing lead, resulting in a half-time score of 14:10.
The second half did not bring a positive change for Eagles, in which moments of well executed fast breaks and good efforts in attack were interspersed with too easily conceded goals, turnovers, and 2 minute penalties. This irregularity allowed NEM Hawks to hold on to their lead from the first half, and finish the game with a score 31:25.
Men's first team will one more chance in this season to finish it on a positive note, when they will play against Warrington Wolves on the 27th of April.
