Eagles men's team was set to begin their season from a difficult position. With the majority of team built from the scratch after one month of training together, they were to face Cambridge HC in the 2019-2020 opener. The situation haven't been made easier by the fact that Eagles were to play with a very short bench, due to delays of international transfers.
Nevertheless, our young team came on the court intending to fight for every goal. The beginning did not start however according to their wishes, where they encountered some trouble on offensive end, with Eagles' attack not yet clicked into the right gear, allowing Cambridge to build a comfortable lead of 7 goals into the end of the first half.
The second half was more even, with Eagles determined to improve the situation in the second set of 30 minutes. And that they did, chasing Cambridge down to 3 goals at some point, with our new acquisitions Fabio Goutet and Gustaf Darrason powering through in offence, scoring respectively 15 and 7 goals in the entire game. Unfortunately fatigue and the shortage of substitutions has taken its toll, as the team wasn't able to keep reducing the score and started to make mistakes which were duly used by Cambridge to make sure that they would take the 3 points home.
