The Darling Family – and Darlings Pharmacy or Darlings Chemist as it was known – has Westoe in its DNA. My father, Bill, was an enthusiastic member. He played for the first team occasionally. He ran Field Day for many years. Darlings also donated the Club Medical Supplies for many years – the image of Ronnie Judson filling up his medical bag at Chichester is memorable.

Ian played for Westoe at high level and I played at low level. For both of us it was an important part of our lives. We even once played against each other

We are delighted to re-establish this very longstanding connection after a short but painful period of a more distant relationship, triggered no doubt by what are perhaps best described as growing pains.

When the prospect of sponsoring the Club in one form or another was raised, we both immediately wanted to do something to commemorate Ken Ray. He was a great friend to both of us and to the Family. He was a patient of Darlings Pharmacy and one of the nicest and most gracious patients that we have ever had or ever will have. It is a small gesture but it is one that we are pleased to be able to make to commemorate a wonderful man.

We also want to sponsor the Club as part of Darlings Pharmacy Community Engagement. We are investing heavily in Darlings Pharmacy and trying to create something really rather special. Like our parents and their parents before them, It now falls to us to take Darlings Pharmacy to the next stage.

We know that many of you will already be our patients and will use our services. We very much hope that those of you who are not will now consider doing so.
