Match preview

South Shields Westoe travel across the Tyne for a “Double-Header” match against close rivals Novocastrians. As if the two sides weren’t close enough, the outcome of the game will count for both the league and the Cup competition.

Novos, coached by ex-Westoe Magnus Leask, currently sit one point below Westoe in the league and both sides are on a current run of good form, so spectators should be in for a thrilling day.

Westoe stormed the home fixture against a weakened Novos team by 69-14; however the home side’s form has greatly improved and this promises to be a tight and ferocious affair.

Westoe retain the same pack that dominated Barnard Castle last week although see several changes in the back-line.

Andy Sutherland makes his season debut at ten, with Luke Moffett switching to centre, alongside returning human-bowling-ball Derek Worthington. The back three that caused Castle so much damage remains intact.

The squad is finished with a strong, experienced bench.
