South Shields Westoe take a break from league rugby this Saturday when they entertain Yorkshire One outfit, Old Rishworthians, in the National Intermediate Cup. Old Rishworthians hail from Copley, near Halifax and are currently second from bottom in Yorkshire One, which is renowned for being a tough league.
The match is part of a pool stage in the competition and Westoe also need to face league rivals Novocastrians in the competition.
Westoe see a return of Raymie Elliott at hooker and Martin Benston moves up from the bench into a strong back-row. In the back-line, Sam Hughes comes in at centre and Mikel Tate wins a start spot on the wing.
Old Rish lost to Novocastrians in the first match of the pool stage and coupled with home advantage, Westoe start the game as favourites; however need to remember that cup rugby can throw up some huge upsets as sides relax away from league pressures and play a freer style.
Kick-off is at 2.15 at Wood Terrace. The Development team face Darlington Mowden Park at Harton 3G pitch. Also 2.15 KO
