McCrea West of Scotland are delighted to congratulate former West professional, Trevor Bayliss (1989, 1990), on his outstanding achievement in coaching England to become World Cup Winners and Number One ODI team in the world.
It is fitting that he achieves this exactly 30 years since he played a key role in helping West to win the Scottish Cup in 1989, beating Clydesdale in the final.
Trevor and wife Julie have always maintained a close relationship with West, and they have often been very welcome visitors back to the club. Indeed, it was typical that despite the pressures of World Cup qualifying matches, they found time last month between matches to fly to Glasgow to attend the funeral of late club stalwart, Colin Edwards.
Everyone at West is delighted for you, Trevor!
Commiserations also to another former West pro, Colin de Grandhomme, who produced an excellent bowling performance in the final after contributing usefully also with the bat.
West are proud to have had two former club professionals involved in the greatest ever World Cup final.
